COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

Dear Parents and Students,

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I have taken the following precautions to continue teaching lessons in my home. Because this virus is unpredictable, we reassess daily our ability to continue in-person versus the need to return to video based lessons.

On June 1, 2020, Katz Piano Studio returned to in-person lessons after two months of video based lessons.  I wanted to provide you with a guide to our precautions to reassure you we are serious about the health and safety of everyone.

  • I wear a protective face shield for all lessons (the same kind used in healthcare facilities) to protect students and myself.  Children are not required to wear face masks, however, students may wear face masks if they choose to do so.  Only one student and myself will be allowed in my studio during the lesson.  Parents and siblings of students will not be allowed to wait inside my home during lessons.  There are many establishments within a few blocks of my home if you do not want to wait in your car during your child’s lesson.  I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however, it is necessary to cut down on unnecessary traffic in my home during this pandemic.

  • I thoroughly clean and sanitize the piano keys, piano bench and frequently touched surfaces before and after each student.  I ask each student to use provided hand sanitizer before each lesson.  If your child or any family member in the home has fever, consistent coughing or sneezing, or any signs of illness, regardless of the presumed cause during the seven days prior to a lesson, the student should not attend the coming week’s lesson.

These precautions are taken to help ensure the safest possible environment for your children to enjoy in-person lessons with me versus online lessons, which are much less preferable.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

Kim Katz
